Turn a printer test page into a measured diagnosis.
Print the standardized Printer Vitals sheet, take one photo, and check line dropout, horizontal banding, print geometry and weak color channels — directly in your browser.
Cyan line dropout
High confidenceThree steps. One controlled test.
A random photo cannot tell you much. Printer Vitals uses a known physical sheet so the browser knows exactly where and what to measure.
Use the official test sheet
Print at 100% / Actual Size on plain paper, in Color and Normal/Standard quality. Turn off Fit to Page, Draft/Eco and Grayscale.
Capture the whole page
Place the sheet on a dark surface. Keep all four paper edges and corner markers visible, sharp and free of glare.
Get specific findings
The browser validates the capture first, then measures Zones A–D and gives a conservative next action.
Four independent checks, plus photo-quality guards.
Line continuity
Counts complete, partial and missing K/C/M/Y pattern elements without pretending one printed line equals one physical nozzle.
Horizontal banding
Looks for repeatable streaking and density drift across 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% tone fields.
Print geometry
Checks content scale, rotation and offset relative to the paper — including likely Fit-to-Page or anisotropic scaling.
Relative channel health
Compares black, cyan, magenta and yellow output to flag grossly weak, severely reduced or missing channels.
Difficult photo? Printer Vitals asks for a retake instead of guessing.
The capture checks are deliberately conservative because glare, crop, blur, shadows and page warp can mimic real printer defects.
Start with the symptom you can see.
Use the troubleshooting pages to understand what the pattern can mean, then run the same standardized measurement instead of guessing from a normal document.
Get the result from your own print.
Print the standardized sheet first. The analyzer will reject the photo if the page is cropped, too blurry, heavily distorted or affected by unsafe glare.
Before you print
Does the photo get uploaded?
No. In this release the photo-analysis path runs in your browser. The latest metrics may be saved in your browser’s local storage so a retest can show a before/after comparison.
Does Printer Vitals work with laser printers?
The current measurement and guidance are designed for color inkjet output. It does not claim laser drum, fuser or toner-component diagnosis.
Can I use Fit to Page?
No. Print at 100% / Actual Size. The geometry check can flag likely scaling, but the cleanest baseline starts with scaling disabled.
Is this a replacement for the printer manufacturer’s maintenance tools?
No. Printer Vitals measures the standardized test output and recommends conservative next steps. Use the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions for device-specific actions.
